Who are Zoey's Friends
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their time of distress"... James 1:27
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. Children who become orphans in Malawi find themselves in a vulnerable and marginalized situation where they face starvation, poor medical attention, exclusion from education, and loneliness. These children are the children that Zoey’s Place seeks out as we believe they are “the least of these.” The following are the conditions that we consider for a child to become a Zoey’s Friend:
- The child is an orphan, which is defined as a child who has lost one or both parents to death or abandonment.
- A child who has one or both parents that have been tested and are HIV+ and/or the child is HIV+.
- A child whose family situation has the child going without food to eat for more than one (1) full day.
